The Speech Technology and Research (STAR) laboratory at SRI international is talented, motivated, and forward-thinking individual to work on research and development projects including speaker recognition, language recognition, audio event detection and characterization, diarization and related areas. Machine learning expertise and experience in at least one detection task including speaker recognition, speaker diarization or language/dialect recognition, or related areas is expected. STAR researchers work towards delivery of systems that meet our government and commercial customer’s needs.
Candidates must be able to work both independently and cooperatively across multiple projects with dynamically forming teams. STAR Laboratory engages in leading-edge research in speaker and language recognition, machine translation, natural language processing, speech recognition, human-machine interfaces, and other areas of speech/language technology. A PhD in a field relevant to speech/audio processing or alternatively, a Masters and 5+ years’ experience in speech processing and machine learning
Strong implementation skills (Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB or other prominent programming language)
Familiarity with UNIX/Linux operating system is required.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English are required.
Experience with system evaluation of speaker, language or other acoustic recognition systems is useful, as is experience successfully interacting with government and/or commercial customers.
Ability to obtain a security clearance is a not a requirement but is a plus, as is past experience in contributing to proposals
