General Summary

Illinois State University, School of Teaching and Learning, is pleased to announce a nine-month, tenure-track position in Elementary Education Literacy at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor. The appointment will commence on August 16, 2022.

The Elementary Education program is seeking a new colleague who is committed to working toward equity, justice, and anti-racism in literacy education. Commitment to such issues is integral to the responsibilities of this position, which include teaching undergraduate courses with the potential to teach graduate courses; producing high quality scholarship; and working in collaborative partnerships with public school professionals. We particularly welcome applicants who bring a critical equity lens to one or more of the following areas: foundational reading processes, literacy assessment, intersectionality in teacher education, and raciolinguistics and language varieties in the U.S. context.

Salary: Salary is competitive and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications

1. Terminal degree or ABD in a relevant field with a completion date prior to 8/16/2022
2. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, including literacy instruction, in public elementary school contexts
3. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and teacher education
4. Demonstrated potential for scholarly research in the field of literacy education (established record of scholarship at the Associate level)
5. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
