CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepares and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations. Performs financial forecasting and reconciliation of internal accounts. Conducts in-depth capital expenditures analysis intended to support decision making by executive leadership of the U
niversity. Compares results with plans and forecasts and makes recommendations for adjustments. Designs and builds various models that summarize several different scenarios around growth and expansion initiatives or opportunities. Assists in
he development and organization of department and project budgets. Collects, interprets and analyzes relevant data or metrics. May develop and maintain reports to support plans, business decisions, operational changes, strategic plans and new services. Resolves any reporting issues. Makes recommendations to align policies and procedures with best practices and capitalize on financial opportunities. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

The Financial Analyst reports to the Director, Central Finance Office and assists with monthly financial analysis, capital expenditure forecasting, and annual budget preparation. The Financial Analyst has exceptional analytical, communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong organizational and time management capabilities. Possesses the ability to present business information to senior administration in a manner easily understood by non-financial professionals. This individual will also have an understanding of financial applications and creation of financial reporting. An attention to detail and insistence on the accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and usefulness of business information will be important characteristics. Conducts in-depth capital expenditures analysis intended to support decision making by executive leadership of the University.
Prepares and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations.
Performs financial forecasting and reconciliation of internal accounts.
Extracts data from various business application systems, provides detailed analysis of the data at the University, division and department levels and interpret the data. Presents information at all levels to the University Budget Executive Director and the Associate Vice President for ultimate distribution to senior leadership.
Analyzes and coordinates the distribution of a variety of financial and capital data and relevant reports in a clear, concise and timely manner; routinely performs variance and historical analysis;
nancial, transactional and ad-hoc reports as needed.
Assists with the development of capital dashboard/profile which incorporates key capital operating measures.
Assists with the monthly management closing process.
Supports the Manager and the Executive Director operationally and with other projects as needed.
