Job Description
Faculty, Open Rank Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APRN)
The faculty and staff of University of New Mexico College of Nursing welcome you to a tradition of excellence in nursing research, education, and clinical practice. Our focus is on building evidence for effective practice and translating that evidence-based knowledge to practice and policy environments with an emphasis in rural health.

We are currently recruiting a faculty member for an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APRN) position. The primary focus of the position is to teach content in the Family Nurse Practitioner or equivalent scope and Doctor of Nursing Practice courses. This is a full time 12-month appointment. The selected applicant must commit to living in Albuquerque metropolitan statistical area

The College of Nursing provides exemplary and innovative education, research, practice, service, and leadership intended to advance the science of nursing and improve tribal, state, national, and global health. The College of Nursing is part of a vibrant Health Sciences Center (HSC), which includes New Mexico’s only Level 1 trauma center and medical school. The HSC provides an exceptional education for more than 1500 students each year in 21 different health fields. The HSC is known for cutting edge research with more than $165 million in extramural research funding. The HSC has an established Clinical & Translational Science Center that provides extensive opportunities and resources to support collaborative research in a variety of interest areas.

The incoming faculty will teach and maintain an active New Mexico APRN License and National Nurse Practitioner Certification. The combination of teaching and clinical experience is a fundamental component of our educational mission. Responsibilities include classroom, online and simulation teaching, mentoring, advising and precepting students, assisting with clinical placements and student oversight, scholarship/service, and participation in program activities and committees to ensure stated program goals are achieved.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

• DNP or PhD within one year of completion
• Three years APRN practice experience
• Active APRN license and national certification
• Clinical preceptor or didactic teaching experience within the last 5 years
• Must be eligible for licensure in New Mexico

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, DNSc, DRPH, EdD)
• Experience working with rural and/or underserved populations
• Family Nurse Practitioner
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly
diverse communities.
