Job Description
OPO Hospital Services Specialist 2 (West Palm Beach)
The UHealth System at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for an OPO

Under the general direction of the Manager, Hospital Services, and in accordance with established procedures, the Hospital Services
Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing strategic efforts in assigned hospitals for the purpose of facilitating organ and tissue donation. Through the ongoing assessment of hospital performance data, the Hospital Services Specialist will build a knowledge base of each hospitalís donor potential, staff, functions and processes. The Hospital Services Specialist will develop strong working relationships at all levels with hospital clients, determine needs relative to the donor process, create invested donation advocates, and implement action plans to maximize donation.

Core Job Responsibilities

Develops and coordinates programs with medical service providers in order to improve the hospitalís competitive position

Assists appropriate staff when needed in the procurement of any needed medical records or information pre or post recovery i.e. x-rays, EMS runs, etc

Educates the pre-hospital c
are provider community in order to keep them informed of the changes in the standards of care they are required to deliver, market the hospital full ranges of services to the provider community, and develop a stronger relationship between the hospital and these providers

Acts as customer service liaison between the hospital and service providers with the objective of establishing and strengthening relationships as well as increasing the number of patients that these services bring to the hospital

Develops and coordinates marketing and educational programs aimed at promoting and increasing the full range of services within area hospitals

Maintains hospital referral base and implements strategies aimed at increasing and improving performance outcomes in all hospital services

Sustains relationships with referring physicians and nursing staff, and initiates changes in practice to increase the quality of the hospital services

Establishes mul
ti-disciplinary councils to develop standards of practices that will optimize outcomes

Participates in collaborative hospital committees, departmental/administrative meetings in assigned hospitals

Performs public and professional education or other hospital development functions on an as-needed basis

Other duties as assigned

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelorís Degree in healthcare, nursing, social work, nonprofit management, communications, or similar field.

Experience:

A minimum two yearsí experience working in health care, communications, or OPO/Tissue Banking field is required.

Experience with physician-relations is highly preferred. Relevant OPO experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Demonstrated planning, negotia
ting, creative problem-solving and analytical skills.

Solid computer skills

Ability to analyze and interpret data.

This role requires the ability to build relationships with clients of diverse backgrounds in all areas of a health care organization.

Ability to navigate through a fast-paced critical care hospital environment is essential to being successful in this role.

Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to develop relationships at all levels within the hospital in service area.

Strong public speaking skills.

Must be able to work in a hospital setting and on a flexible schedule

Maintains a courteous receptive atmosphere for patients, public and other staff throughout the organization

Ability to work in a high volume environment and provide effective and efficient clinical and customer services to members and providers
