The Principal Scientist, Oncology Discovery will join a drug discovery team to develop cutting-edge therapeutics for the treatment of prostate cancer.  They will be expected to lead an Oncology discovery team focused on advancing discovery programs from target validation through IND readiness.  They must demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to interact with multiple functional teams to advance projects.    


In this role, you will:

  • Lead a small discovery team focused on generating comprehensive and well-designed pre-clinical data packages including in vitro/ in vivo studies in support of IND readiness for First-In-Human (FIH) studies.
  • Manage and collaborate with multiple different functional teams to advance projects, including antibody generation, PK/PD, translational, in vivo, and non-clinical safety teams.
  • Pro-actively identify critical project related issues and mitigation plans that can impact deliverables and timing of key program milestones.
  • Ability to implement functional screening paradigms to support lead candidate selection processes.
  • Identify and establish key collaborator/CRO relationships that can assist in driving internal programs to key milestones.
  • Design and interpret complex in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical studies.
  • Previous experience with high-parameter multi-color FACS assay is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with immune assays is preferred (immune cell handling: T cells, macrophages, NK cells) cytokine profiling, phenotypic characterization by FACS, etc).
  • Analyze and present data in professional 'publication ready' format
  • Keep up-to-date with the literature related to his/her field.
  • Demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication skills

  • A minimum of a Ph.D. with at least 2-5-years of biotech/pharmaceutical experience leading drug discovery programs is required.
  • Experience in leading Oncology drug discovery programs from target validation to IND readiness is required.
  • In depth knowledge of cancer disease biology, knowledge of prostate cancer disease biology is required.
  • Previous experience in establishing functional screening paradigms to enable lead molecule selection is preferred.
  • Previous experience in managing/mentoring direct reports (Ph.D and non Ph.D) is required.
  • Proficient with graphing software such as Graph Pad, Sigma Plot is required.
  • Intellectually curious and well informed on the latest scientific advances in the fields of oncology or immune-oncology is required.
  • Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with others is required.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills is required.
  • This role is to be located in Spring House, PA and may require up to 10% travel domestic or internationally.
