The University Technology Office (UTO) at ASU is seeking a highly motivated Associate UX Researcher to create, guide and support the user experience (UX) of our growing base of cutting-edge digital products and programs.

The UX team works in all stages of the development cycle, gathering insights about the attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of people who use our products and using them to guide and validate design. Associate UX Researchers observe user needs and behaviors and work closely with cross-functional teams to address product needs. They carry out user research practices to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data and deliver compelling presentations of their findings. Associate UX Researchers take a holistic view of our users and their behavior, and proactively identify gaps and opportunities for new research. They deliver impactful and timely insights to the product and design teams in order to facilitate recommendations which improve the user experience.

Reveal what users need from our products by conducting primary research, exploring behaviors and motivations, and working with diverse teams to develop new features.
Communicate and present test plans, research findings, and detailed design rationale.
Collect and analyze user behavior by conducting research such as surveys, benchmark studies, online experiments (A/B testing), interviews, diary studies, and usability tests.
Work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to prioritize research opportunities at all stages of the development cycle.
Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs.
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g.behavioral science, social psychology, HCI, CS, UX) AND one (1) year of industry experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Evidence of a digital portfolio or work samples with relevant experience; emphasis on case studies which illustrate how data was used to influence product design.
Experience in using communication, presentation, and analytical skills to communicate complex research concepts clearly and persuasively.
Experience working in a collaborative team.
Experience and/or interest in accessible and inclusive research practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of research strategies like conducting user interviews, usability tests, and surveys; and evaluating web analytics.
Evidence of organizational skills, including prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines with a quick turnaround.
Experience analyzing data with tools such as R, Python, Excel, or Google Data Studio.
Experience in modeling empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence.
Experience hiring in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Experience in helping foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive.
Experience in stimulating changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.
Experience in leading by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution’s sustainability programs.
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse 75percent; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work 10percent.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushingand pulling up to 25 pounds 15percent.
