Based in Baltimore, MD and reporting to the Executive Vice President, Chief Science & Technology Officer and Founder, the Director/Senior Director Bioinformatics will manage, analyze, and interpret complex biological data sets using computer sciences and artificial intelligence to help develop meaningful and effective personalized treatments for cancer using WindMIL’s broad technology platform.
The position will be responsible for large data set processing and storage for our research, clinical and manufacturing groups and will oversee creating software and infrastructure for the processing and management of data from a variety of other high-throughput technologies.
This position will be responsible for developing and executing project plans for the launch of new assays and technologies and the improvement of existing assays and processes and be responsible for ensuring the operational stability and efficiency of deployed pipelines and related applications. The position will contribute to the ongoing creation of a long-term technology vision and strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Function as the scientific thought leader for bioinformatics within the wider WindMIL R&D function
Develop new software and implement publicly available tools to support data processing pipelines and related applications across a range of technologies (NGS, microarrays, multi-parametric flow cytometry/CyTOF, multiparametric cytokine analyses, PCR, etc.)
Develop and execute project plans for the launch of new assays and technologies and for the improvement of existing pipelines or other applications and Manage the validation and deployment of pipelines/applications
Conceptualize and implement data storage models
Design and prototype bioinformatics methods, models, and workflows for novel applications and performance improvements of existing product development
Develop bioinformatics approaches for analysis of large-scale datasets and application development
Leverage datasets, clinical data, and computational approaches to support and guide WindMIL’s clinical development programs and enable ongoing target discovery efforts
Collaborate with various internal teams including development, software, research scientists and clinical development to develop translational strategies and approaches for clinical studies
Utilize technical expertise and computational methods to integrate, analyze and visualize results with data sets obtained from a variety of translational platforms
Create end-to-end analysis including design, data gathering, and analysis to present to key stakeholders to make optimal research and development decisions

A proven self-starter willing to roll up their sleeves and deliver
Familiarity with common bioinformatics analysis tools in R (Bioconductor), Python or similar languages.
Flexibility and adaptability and a can-do attitude
MS in Bioinformatics, Computational Immunology, Computer Science, or related discipline
Minimum ten (10) years’ relevant industry experience with experience in molecular biology, cell biology, oncology, or immunology
Demonstrated ability to lead a bioinformatics function, provide technical expertise, perform translational research, and lead cross functional projects
Expertise in next-generation sequencing data generation, processing, and analysis, including experience in developing novel statistical methods and applications
Passionate about teamwork and delivering groundbreaking therapies for patients
Highly organized with thorough attention to detail ensuring timely follow-through and closure
Demonstrated collaborative and influencing skills to work effectively in a cross functional team-based environment
Experience with non-NGS genomic data
Familiarity with IT procurement planning
Expertise in cloud pipeline, application, and storage development and deployment on AWS, GCP, Azure etc.
Ability to perform under pressure and effectively handle conflict/resolution situations both internally and externally and work effectively in a team environment
