Sr. Product Manager – BioProcess Automation & Digitalization

How will you make an impact?
You will be responsible for driving product development, product life cycle management, developing and executing marketing plans that increase revenue and market share, and the provision of necessary training on usage of the products.

What will you do?

Product Planning and New Product Introductions

  • Act as an automation and digitalization product owner and develop detailed business and functional specifications for the capabilities in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Stay current on the emerging trends and new technologies in the areas of automation, digitalization, and data analytics and propose opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct market research and voice of customer (VOC) and validate data to drive decisions on development of product plans and identification of new opportunities.
  • Develop 2 to 5 year product roadmap for assigned portfolio according to business strategy.
  • Provide support in developing and securing leadership alignment on the digital capability roadmap for the business unit.
  • Champion successful launches through requirements, development, and commercialization stage-gate process.

Product Life Cycle Management

  • Develop the positioning strategy of all products and services considering price, volume, share and profitability.
  • Responsible for defining regional promotional tools and sales tactics to increase revenue including product pricing with commercial teams.
  • Ensure assigned products are responsive to market needs, drive continuous improvements to maintain and/or improve market penetration and share position.

Product Line Performance

  • Drive visibility of our automation platform and digital capabilities amongst customers via appropriate channels.
  • Lead and prioritize cross-functional activities to maximize overall product line performance including revenue growth, margin improvement, cost reduction, quality and delivery.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report out to management, quarterly and annually, on product sales activity to budget, market trends, key customers, and competition.

Marketing and Training

  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to develop appropriate collaterals including catalogs, launch kits, sales communications, instruction sheets, etc., for driving sales.
  • Develop materials on product positioning and value proposition for training programs to sales, application specialists, and field service engineers

How will you get here?

  • BS degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field is required.
  • MS / PhD degree or MBA strongly preferred.


  • 10+ years of directly related technical experience in bioprocess & pharma controls, automation, equipment, and instrumentation preferred.
  • 5+ years of product management or commercial, customer-facing experience preferred.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV platform is preferred.
  • Prior experience as an automaton or digital solutions engineer within Pharma/Biotech companies will be valued.
  • Experience assessing software tools, solutions and service delivery models and recommending the best fit.
  • Experience working directly with customers, commercial teams, vendors, and varied sales channels.
  • Strong collaborative track record of the ability to find solutions to a common goal working within a global matrix environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong analytical and business acumen: Confident working with diverse data to develop recommendations in inexact situations.
  • Requires excellent organization, project management, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct financial analyses, develop financial models and interpret P&L statements as they relate to the product portfolio.
  • Ability to gain in depth technical understanding of product portfolio including customer workflows, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Sales Force and ERP / PLM programs.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Products: PowerPoint, Excel.
