Everactive is looking for someone to join the RF design team who is familiar designing radios for energy constrained systems and comfortable making hardware design trade offs in order to meet those energy constraints. We are looking for engineers who understand radio hardware at the chip and system level, but knowledge in both areas is not explicitly required. Tasks will be varied and include, but are not limited to, system level design including board level component selection, PCB development and simulation, and antenna design. Other tasks at a more integrated circuit level can include low power block level design (PLL, VCO, LNA, mixer, LO, filters, amps, RSSI) as well as system level design (link budgets, noise and linearity planning, AGC loops, etc). Experience designing for low power standards like BLE and 802.15.4 as well as a strong understanding involving the interaction between the low level networking layers is a plus.
Wireless communication is a key differentiator for Everactive. Everactive has its own sensor network protocol which utilizes a combination of proprietary and standard compliant radios that enable ultra-low power yet scalable sensor node deployments.

The successful applicant will have:
A Master's degree or greater in Electrical Engineering
Approximately 5-10 years of proven experience (less if you have a PhD)
Experience designing low power radios with an emphasis on ASK or FSK-based architectures
Experience with antenna design
Experience in the following circuits: RF PLL, VCO's, LNA, mixer, LO, filters, amps, RSSI
Experience with the following concepts at a system level: link budget, noise, linearity, AGC, RSSI
Familiar with low power protocols (802.15.4, BLE, etc) and the impact on radio front-end hardware
Knowledge in operating lab test equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, high speed oscilloscopes
Tools: Altium for PCB design, Cadence analog simulation tools for integrated circuits, HFSS
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills
Energy and aim to thrive in start-up environment
And will likely also have:
Experience with subthreshold amplifier design
Experience with modeling (MATLAB, Verilog, real number modeling)
