Under the supervision of the Director, the teacher will instruct students according to the prescribed AP Computer Science A curriculum. The teacher will perform related teaching tasks and functions such as planning, research, curriculum alignment, assessment and record-keeping in an efficient and effective manner. This is an adjunct online course position teaching one section of AP Computer Science A.

• Plan, prepare and implement online instructional activities to actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
• Establish social presence and encourage active participation and engagement among students by maintaining daily interaction with the course community through announcements, discussion forums and synchronous learning opportunities. Ensure that emails, messages and phone calls are returned within 24-hour period.
• Model and share best practices in digital citizenship within the online community.
• Provide feedback to students in a timely manner and grade assessments within the required timeframe
• Adjunct teachers can expect to work 10-15 hours per week, including regular office hours (minimum of 2- 30-minute sessions each week), grading assessments, and hosting synchronous online sessions for each course assigned
Teachers must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Ideal candidates will possess certification through the Florida Department of Education. Candidates should have a minimum of two years teaching experience teaching AP Computer Science or similar courses. Applicants should have experience developing learning content within Canvas or another similar LMS. Previous online teaching experience with secondary students is encouraged, but not required. Candidates should possess a strong background in using educational technology to support learning design including, but not limited to EdPuzzle, NearPod, Google Workplace Apps, etc. Applicants must have a computer with reliable internet access.
