Wells Fargo Compliance is the company's compliance second line of defense function, providing company-wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that all business groups abide by applicable laws, rules, regulations and regulatory guidance (regulatory requirements), meet compliance responsibilities, and manage compliance risks. Wells Fargo Compliance credibly challenges management decisions, business processes and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for compliance risk management activities across the enterprise.
This is an opportunity to join the Wholesale Compliance Governance Team.  The organization is part of Compliance and is charged with and the general oversight of the company's Shared Risk Platform (SHRP) Administration Program.  It partners with various groups and line of business risk and compliance functions to perform its oversight function effectively. It also maintains the SHRP System in accordance with Wells Fargo Compliance Program Policy and conducts ongoing monitoring for accuracy and completeness. 

This Compliance Sr Assoc  position will report to the Compliance Manager and will focus on system management oversight including working with Wholesale Commercial Capital and Middle Market Banking lines of business as well as other Commercial Banking lines of business, Commercial Banking compliance partners, Legal, etc. as appropriate and necessary in the understanding, management, and oversight of the primary risk management tool (SHRP). This will help ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, focused especially on enterprise controls applicable to Commercial Banking lines of business. He/she will be responsible for appropriate communication and oversight of compliance requirements, documentation, analysis and related and required reporting of Compliance Risk metrics as required by Corporate and Commercial Banking policy.  This team member will work across Wells Fargo Commercial Capital and Middle Market Banking stakeholder groups to ensure a systematic, disciplined, and consistent approach to the management of regulatory compliance. Stakeholder groups may include Wells Fargo Commercial Capital and Middle Market Banking Lines of Business, Wells Fargo Audit Services, or Corporate / Commercial Banking Risk Functions. In addition to SHRP system and other tools, the role involves work on policies and procedures, assisting with the risk assessment process, development of Compliance plans and assisting with training, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Understanding of and experience in one or more Wholesale business lines.
  • Understanding of and experience with the various WF risk management tools, specifically SHRP and RCSA
  • Experience identifying and driving process improvements in complex, institutional banking environment
  • Understanding of key regulatory compliance risk components, including experience driving consistency and quality across all aspects of a risk function
  • Ability to understand and work with data, including creating alignment among various data sources, developing trends, and creating risk-based analytics from multiple information sources
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, and assessing the adequacy of policies, procedures, processes and controls
  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and collaboration skills, including the ability to negotiate with numerous parties and reach agreeable solutions
  • Proven ability and experience in being able to look at the big picture across a risk program and implement successful strategy and solutions
  • Ability to adapt to changing and competing priorities
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adherence to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and successfully work on several unrelated projects at same time
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience in articulation of risk both verbally and in writing to various levels of staff and management
  • Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and deliver results quickly
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team within the Commercial Banking Compliance Risk Group and with senior line of business associates and support partners
  • Knowledge of Wells Fargo Commercial Banking business or other complex financing businesses

  • Experience with oversight of bank or securities and/or trading compliance programs and compliance risk assessments
  • Experience working with Technology groups to help ensure effective controls
  • Possess and demonstrate compliance expertise at an enterprise level
