Assistant Professor Cognitive Psychology The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Cognitive Psychology at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2021, pending final budgetary approval. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Psychology or Cognitive Science. Preference will be given to candidates who have established a record of nationally recognized research, obtained external research support (or have high promise of doing so), and engaged in collaborative interdisciplinary research. We are particularly interested in applicants who have a background in the psychology of learning technologies, human-computer interaction, and computational modeling of learning. The ideal faculty member will lead the development and testing of advanced learning environments and continue our 3-decade history of projects funded by the Office of Naval Research, Army Research Laboratory, Advanced Distributed Learning, National Science Foundation, Institute of Education Sciences, and other agencies. The Psychology Department consists of more than 30 full-time faculty members, 125 graduate students, and 900 undergraduate majors. Graduate degree programs include APA-accredited doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology and School Psychology; a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology; a master’s degree program in General Psychology; and a M.A./Ed.S. Program in School Psychology. Psychology faculty actively collaborate with scientists at the Institute for Intelligent Systems (IIS) housed within the FedEx Institute of Technology. The IIS, an interdisciplinary research center, is dedicated to advancing the state of knowledge and capabilities of intelligent systems, including psychological, biological, and artificial systems. The colleague recruited for this position will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
