Quantitative Investment Analyst|
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Quantitative Investment Analysts on the Multi-Asset Research Team support the Multi-Asset Division through rigorous financial, economic, quantitative, and statistical analyses mostly at the asset class level, though occasionally at the individual security level. The breadth of these analyses covers the areas of strategic and tactical asset allocation, portfolio construction and analytics, financial planning research, data and infrastructure design, and investment product design. Most of the teamís efforts are research and development oriented and project based in nature, requiring the Quantitative Investment Analysts to be generalists who can straddle the different areas of multi-asset research, and to be comfortable with varying degrees of computational rigor across different projects. For this position we are seeking an individual who can operate independently and take on relatively more senior roles in our various projects.
Independently, or in collaboration with other analysts, execute research projects identified to meet the investment needs of the Multi-Asset Division under the guidance of the Director of Research:
identify the core issue; shape and design the project; identify and absorb existing research on the subject; identify and procure the most appropriate method, tool, or data to address the issue; execute the research; communicate results to key stakeholders internally and clients externally. Liaise with internal stakeholders and participate in firm-wide efforts involving multi-asset topics. Execute operational duties, such as ongoing generation and maintenance of related investment reports, data sets, or analytical infrastructure. Keep abreast of industry trends in the areas of asset allocation and quantitative financial techniques (e.g., reading applied academic literature).
Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Math, Engineering, or Physics) with a strong background including one or more of the following: optimization and operations research, signal processing and optimal control, statistics or stochastic processes, and applied mathematics
Substantial experience programming in Matlab or similar high-level computational language or environment, especially an object-oriented one (e.g., Python, C++, Java, etc.).
Excellent academic credentials coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Drive to improve capabilities by learning new skills and approaches to problem-solving
Evidence of ability to work and deliver results independently or as a part of a team
Well-developed oral and written communication skills (ability to gauge audience and to distill complicated analytical concepts down to the right level for various audiences)
Ability to deliver on fuzzy objectives and tolerate mid-stream changes in project path
Ability to apply varying levels of precision appropriately to projects under varying circumstances
Ability to multi-task and to simultaneously push forward several projects
Experience in project management or project-based environments
Possessing or willingness to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
Prior experience in the financial industry is not necessary.
