Bryn Mawr College has an opening for an Assistive Technology Specialist.
Assistive Technology Specialist. Reports to the director of Educational and Scholarly Technology in Library and Information Technology Services (LITS). Works closely with the director of Access Services in the Deanís Office and a College-wide Accessibility Leadership Committee. Responsibilities include providing one-on-one technical support to students with disability accommodations, helping faculty and staff ensure educational materials and environments are accessible, administering assistive technology software and equipment, and providing outreach to raise awareness about assistive technology tools and services and to promote effective and inclusive instructional strategies.
Two to three yearsí professional focus on providing assistive technology support and services to college students with disabilities; familiarity with a range of assistive technologies and relevant legal requirements, technical standards, and best practices; and the ability to collaborate successfully with a diverse community of faculty, students, and staff are required. Familiarity with inclusive and universal design for learning (UDL) pedagogies and experience researching, evaluating, and troubleshooting technology tools are strongly desired. Certificate or degree from accredited program in assistive technology, special education, or similar field is helpful.
