HBCUs WIN BIG During Capital One’s The Match!
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on November 30, 2020 Capital One’s The Match: Champions for Change event did not disappoint. This year’s match pitted World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson and Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley against Soon-to-be Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and basketball star Stephen Curry in a golf tournament. Although team Mickelson and Barkley came out victorious, HBCUs all over the country were the real winners. Held to contribute to highlight diversity, inclusion, and equality through donations to HBCUs, the event lead to donations topping $5 million to more than 20 Black institutions and organizations. Selected schools included Spelman College, Morehouse College, Bennet College, Howard University, Alabama A&M, Hampton University, Winston-Salem University, Jackson State University, Tuskegee University, Grambling University, and Lane College.
