SBVC Football: Rodriguez signs with Texas Southern

SBVC Football: Rodriguez signs with Texas Southern
Posted By: HBCU Connect Sports on May 23, 2011

SBVC Football sophomore offensive lineman Ray Rodriguez (Colton H.S.) has signed a letter of intent with Texas Southern University.
Junior played her high school basketball for the Eagles of La Sierra high school. Junior was an impact player for SBVC from the very beginning, in her freshman year (2009-2010) she nailed a three pointer to close out a first round playoff game at home versus Palomar. She was named first team All-Foothill Conference both years at SBVC. She had a season high 21 points, against L.A. Pierce in the first round of the Ventura Holiday Classic on December 28, 2010. Junior led the team in steals with 78.

The team finished the regular season with a 27-3 overall record and a 13-1 conference record. They were rewarded with a second seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs, which was the highest seed of Foothill Conference teams in the playoffs.

This was an amazing season for SBVC Women's Basketball that saw head coach Susan Crebbin win her second Conference Coach of the Year award, a stretch of games in which they won 19 consecutive contests, and a season where the program won an impressive 4th straight Conference ****. Crebbin also hit a milestone, claiming career victory number 110 this season, making her the most successful Women's Basketball head coach in SBVC history. That victory came at the expense of Conference rival Mt. San Jacinto on January 5th. Crebbin was also awarded the Conference Coach of the Year honor after the 2007-2008 season as well, and for a significant portion of the season, SBVC Women's Basketball was ranked number one in the CCCWBCA poll, holding that ranking for four weeks from January 3 till January 31.
