The Systems Software Engineering Manager leads a team of highly skilled associates by providing technical guidance and mentorship, collaborating across functions and organizations to ensure quality products and on time delivery of goods and services. They use their experience in system development to design, build, and sustain industry defining solutions, while building on and supporting the current catalog of products. They rely on their leadership experience to inspire their direct reports to continue to grow their own skills and encourage an environment of diversity and collaboration. They actively seek out and contribute to industry standard methodologies and deploy them in their daily tasking. They are dedicated to constant evolution and continuous improvement and are eager to learn knew topics and participate in thorough debates to chart the future course of the products and organization. Ultimately, they are responsible for the full lifecycle of products owned by the Systems Software team. This role is expected to be a tech evangelist, mentor, teacher, and guide for their direct reports and the broader organization, promoting industry standards and adoption of best fit solutions across multiple teams and products.

Major Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead multi-functional teams

• Set goals and manage the performance of direct reports

• Mentor individuals to accomplish their career goals as well as project objectives

• Develop metrics to drive development activities of the team

• Manage and establish project plans and objectives

• Ensure transparent communication from leadership to team members

• Establish and maintain department processes and standard work

• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and process improvements

• Participate in constructive reviews and feedback for team members

• Champion and lead change through process improvement and personal resilience

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Software, Systems, or equivalent STEM field

The ideal candidate has:

• 5+ years of experience in related field

• Proven people leadership experience

• Proven experience as a technical lead, project or program manager

• Proficient with agile development methodologies and tools

• Experience developing hardware driven software defined systems

An outstanding candidate also has:

• Experience working with multi-disciplinary global teams

• Experience with automated build, integrations, and deployments

• Knowledge of medical product development environment (FDA, ISO) with exposure to design control regulations

• Expertise and experience in Brightfield or Fluorescence Digital Imaging or other medical imaging modalities

• Knowledge of Verification and Validation methods for medical device development.

• Experience with cybersecurity governance and identity/privilege management

Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in which you can work part-time at the Vista, CA location and part-time from your home.
