Accounts Payable Manager

The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager is a hands-on-role, responsible for managing a team of 4 associates to accomplish all accounts payable activities ensuring accurate record keeping, timely processing and payment of invoices and month-end close accounts payable tasks and reports. As a people leader, works to ensure a positive and productive place to work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive process improvements around AP processes and cash applications across the Financial Shared Services.
  • Implementation of global expense system.
  • Timely matching and processing incoming invoices with open purchase orders in preparation for payment to vendors.
  • Ensure timely processing of internal check requests, credit card payments and expense reports.
  • Works with vendors and internal customers to resolve issues with invoices, such as price discrepancy, missing invoices or credits, etc.
  • Acts as the liaison between Finance other departments for purchase order error and resolution.
  • Works with team to prepare weekly payable runs, match checks with back up, acquire authorized signatures and mail and file all checks with documentation.
  • Ensure employee expense report audits are performed as required.
  • Ensure Accounts Payable files are always up to date.
  • Assists in reconciling G/L accounts such as Accounts Payable to the General Ledger monthly.
  • Assists in the month end close processes as needed.
  • Ensure optimization of cash application (implement automatic load from bank, etc.).
  • Responsible for training, performance management and development of staff.

Position Specific Proficiencies / Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years AP and accounting experience with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Proven experience in Accounts Payable process optimization.
  • Ability to effectively manage and facilitate positive interpersonal relations with team members and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to pay attention to detail in a time sensitive work environment.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related field

Language

  • English

IT

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) with advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity working with ERP and automated expense systems

Travel (required estimated % of time)

  • <10%
