Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in which you can work part-time at the Vista, CA location and part-time from your home.

You will lead the Systems Hardware Engineering team through design, development, integration, test and release of new products! As the manager, you will also run the Sustainment, Reliability Improvement and Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) activities for our products. You will operate in a regulated environment and contribute to the technology roadmap, new product development and support of sustainment activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and establish project plans, objectives and report on and drive development activities of the team

• Coordinate and lead multi-functional teams in manufacturing, quality and operations and collaborate with the Systems Software team throughout development

• Drive product development Design History File (DHF) items including plans (project management), crafting design specifications, developing design output work, design verification & validation protocols and reports all according to Leica Quality Management Systems Processes

• Establish objectives and development plans for associates and mentor individuals to accomplish their career goals as well as project objectives

• Build, develop and engage diverse teams while contributing to an inclusive work environment where individuality is valued and supported

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other equivalent field and 5+ years of experience in a related field

• 3+ years of experience as a technical lead, technical project manager or people leader

• Demonstrated knowledge of the technical specialties needed to develop a sophisticated electromechanical and automated system: development of requirements, system architecture, hardware design, manufacturability and serviceability, hardware and software interfacing

• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and maintain a hardware development environment using computer aided design (CAD) software packages, issue tracking and release

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead product development within a regulated medical product development environment (FDA, ISO)

• Expertise and experience in Brightfield or Fluorescence Digital Imaging or other medical imaging modalities

• Knowledge of agile hardware development methodology

• Expertise in hardware and system development for high precision automated vision systems
