Job Description
Assembly Technician II
of Position: Use a variety of hand and power tools, fixtures, jigs, test equipment and work instructions to perform a series of operations to correctly assemble and/or test instruments or subassemblies. Perform a variety of complex assembly related tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Production Assembly Technician IIIs are expected to share expertise and serve as mentors to other assembly technicians and have a high degree of understanding of complex processes and or highly skilled in working with a broad range of products. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Essential Functions (specific duties may vary by location): All responsibilities as outlined in position of Production Assembly Technician II as follows: o Perform pre-assembly quality check on all components o Follow detailed assembly instructions in a variety of formats (i.e, drawings, schematics, bills of material, internal procedures or some combination thereof), and report work completed on a daily basis o Perform quality checks on completed assemblies, as needed o Understand and meet quality and delivery requirements, and understands how duties relate to others in the department o Recognize and report problems with quality, processes, equipment or materials to Production Lead, Supervisor or Operations Manager o Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing best practices o Participate in Kaizen events o Work off-shift, as needed, to support department, meet deadlines or to maximize up-time on machinery/processes Understand how department relates to others in the company; has a broad understanding of how Operations groups fit together Provide hands-on job function training to coworkers as needed, and act as an informal resource Work independently with limited supervision Other Non-Essential Functions: Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: checking parts availability, cross-training, collecting data and information either from individuals or from a group, participating in daily organizational meetings, and/or participating in walk-arounds, and/or acting as a back-up Lead. Education, Background and Qualification Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent 5+ years of related work experience Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Ability to learn new computer software programs Excellent electro-mechanical skills (soldering, proper wire stripping and crimping techniques) Excellent attention to detail Basic knowledge of necessary instruments and tools
