What you’ll be doing...

We are connecting businesses with their field teams and their fleet of cars in our cutting-edge Verizon Connect group—improving efficiency and enhancing service levels for our business customers. You’ll be managing strategic analysis with a focus on product strategic planning that will ultimately drive the strategic direction of the Connect Business. You’ll bring together strategic analysis of our product portfolio as compared to the macro, industry and technological trends to inform strategic decision making. Verizon Connect is looking for a product strategic planner to join our Business Operations organization. Primary purpose of the product strategic planner is to support the Sr. Manager with strategic analysis. The Product Strategic Planner will give inputs into Strategic Product Maps to drive new product roadmap enhancements that would capitalize on the business competitive position, diversify our revenue stream, and align with our long-term vision.
The Product Strategic Planner will analyze the multigenerational technological enhancements and map those against our roadmap as well the competitions current and future product roadmaps and identify gaps. The role is expected to support the business in developing dynamic product portfolio internally & externally calibrated along with structured hypotheses to deliver strategic recommendations and track the progress of identified objectives.

This is a hybrid position, the expectation is that you will report to a main verizon office once a week.

  • Create planning and management processes that generate a granular view of product and market opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally to facilitate the refinement of Verizon Connects strategy through a disciplined and best- in-class process to drive backcast alignment from the North Star vision into actionable products plans.
  • Create independent, fact-based anchors, including deriving product roadmap recommendations from market growth, leveraging benchmarking analysis of competitors and technological evolution
  • Responsible for the executive presentations that communicate the plan to key stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally to facilitate the refinement of Verizon Connect's strategy through a disciplined and best-in-class process to drive backcast alignment from the North Star vision into product plans.
  • Create and deliver accurate, high-quality, thoughtfully designed reports and analyses to address operational and strategic questions
  • Provide forward-looking insights and propose recommendations
  • Participate in scenario planning and the annual planning process

You are comfortable with multiple aspects of a business, including product, operations, and strategy. You can paint a high resolution picture about what we want to accomplish over the coming years, and can shape the plan that gets us there.
You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Managed large complex projects involving multiple work streams and stakeholders.
  • Product Development or Portfolio Management experience.
  • Experience in emerging technology.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Knowledge of strategic frameworks and good research skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assimilate a broad range of data, analyzing, and distinctly packaging the information to a variety of audiences, including executive management.
  • Ability to understand the corporate business strategies and apply to the business.
  • Strategic thinking and vision.
  • Excellent relationship building skills that result in a strong network.
  • Ability to advance ideas through different levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively across operating units effectively influencing others.
