Engineer III, Electronic Design

Engineer III, Electronic Design

Work as a senior member of a multi-disciplinary product development team to assess customer needs, generate concepts, create requirements, design, test and support the transition of electromechanical and robotics based devices and systems from development to manufacturing and then the field.


  • Works on multi-disciplinary technical teams to develop and evaluate solutions of complex multi-product level problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Responsible for the design and analysis of complex level electrical systems, equipment and PCB packages.
  • Conducts feasibility studies of new and modified designs exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
  • Analyze complex designs with understanding of DFM and serviceability
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews
  • Provide leadership role at a system/subassembly project level by assigning work and resolving problems as required.
  • Lead the execution of failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA) of system level and sub-system level designs to identify high risk areas to improve designs.
  • Evaluate issues and failures to determine root cause and potential solutions
  • Mentoring and coordination of other engineers
  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international off-site locations as necessary to directly support customers, evaluate field issues as well as support start up activities for new products.
  • Estimate, manage, and report time required for multiple, concurrent tasks
  • Develop quarterly goals

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of medical related products, markets, customers and business fundamentals
  • Demonstrated experience designing complex electrical and robotics subassemblies and systems
  • Proficient experience designing schematics and generating bill of materials as well as design simulation using Orcad or Altium tools.
  • Familiarity with custom PCB development including parts footprint generation, printed circuit board layouts, fabrication drawings and assembly drawings.
  • Experience with using DFSS methodologies during the design, validation and launch of products.
  • Demonstrated experience with Bill of Materials, MRP systems and the ECR, ECO processes
  • Display an understanding of system engineering
  • Experience with project lead role as well as supervisory role.
  • Able to effectively solve problems, work independently on sub-assemblies and multi-task as required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently as well as building strong cross functional collaborative relationships
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and assist cross functional teams with the debugging of complex issues
  • The candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of Products

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years Electrical Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile PLM
  • Familiarity with LabView, and AutoCad
  • Working experience with FDA regulated, ISO13485, or other highly regulated environments
