Reporting into the Global Head of HR, Medical R&D Robotics, Digital & Innovation, this role is responsible for the creation and deployment of the portfolio of HR work in support of the Office of Digital Innovation objectives and goals. The Global Head of HR, Office of Digital Innovation, MedTech will actively support their business partners including Leads for Office of Digital Innovation, being the Global Head of Medical Affairs Preclinical/Clinical, MD and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) MD including the people/talent actions for their respective business regarding Office of Digital Innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring business intimacy:

  • Create and deploy the HR agenda for the business within a geography, aligned with HR, business, and shared services strategies
  • Ensure integration of HR priorities into business plans
  • Evaluate appropriate business, financial, or other drivers across groups to inform HR solutions (e.g., assess effectiveness, identify gaps)
  • Lead strategic HR work for the sector in a country/cluster in support of business goals, enterprise goals, and sector HR strategies
  • Develop trusted partnership/coaching relationship with leaders/teams that enhances their impact
  • Support the Office of Digital innovation in standardizing our MedTech digital offerings across the end-to-end Medical sector (all functions; all regions).
  • Leads the design and implementation of the Office of Digital Innovation operating structure; transforms the business from individual Franchise/Platform digital models into integrated POD / Digital Product Owner models that cut across MedTech Franchises, Regions, Platforms and functions. 
  • Leads all change management and communication strategy in partnership with communications, Global Talent Management, and Global Business Unit HR to transition to an integrated Global, One MD Digital operating model.
  • Serves as a bridge and partner between R&D, Johnson & Johnson Technology and Commercial across all Franchises and regions to facilitate capability building support.
  • Leads the connection between the MedTech Office of Digital Innovation and the broader Johnson & Johnson Digital Enterprise Ecosystem to leverage existing resources and enable sector digital strategy.
  • Supports Digital Acquisition &Divestiture – supports partner & licensing decisions, deal due diligence, and integration support to rapidly onboard new digital ecosystem partners to the Office of Digital innovation / Digital Product Owner operating model.


Driving talent agenda and building organizational capability:

  • Identify talent needs of the business via analytics, business acumen, and effective analysis
  • Develop/deploy talent strategies in partnership with local leadership to grow and advance effective, diverse talent pools and drive meaningful talent planning; build on global and region-sector strategies to implement within country/cluster
  • Support country/cluster business leaders for the sector/function to drive talent agenda and achieve business results
  • Partner with global-sector, region-sector, and country/cluster HR leaders to shape culture, employee engagement, talent agendas, and change initiatives as appropriate
  • Develops and executes a strategic digital workforce build/buy/partner plans across all regions and MD functions to deliver digital capability needs across end-to-end business (patient journey, supply chain, professional education, R&D, commercial, automation, data & analytics).
  • Conducts current skill inventory across global MedTech and outlines the skills/competencies evolution strategy over the next 2-3 years.
  • Partner closely across the Global MD BUHR community to identify talent, design organization structure, lead change management, and implement new digital operating models.
  • Shape and partner on building a Global Digital Surgery Practice on behalf of Global HR and MedTech by identifying collaborations and necessary evolutions across HR Ecosystem partners - TR, TA, GTM, GS, etc. to create a comprehensive and differentiate EVP that attracts, develops, retains, and rewards the best digital talent.
  • Leads franchise-wide Digital Talent Management including advancing digital pipeline health, diversity, retention, critical capabilities and increasing digital literacy in business leaders.
  • Leads team effectiveness for Digital POD/Digital Product Teams.

Promoting collaboration:

  • Partner x-group, including across all parts of the HR model, to ensure integrated solutions and seamless experiences for both HR and the business
  • Collaborate x-sector/function on initiatives/goals that apply across the country/cluster
  • Proactively identify opportunities to partner x-group and or x-sector to ensure integration of efforts
  • Partner with country/cluster OneHR double hat leader to identify unique needs for partnership with Corporate Service / Global Service Stakeholders.

  • This position is located in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and require 25% travel.
  • 10+ years professional experience, including managerial experience coaching and leading talent; minimum of 7 years of progressive HR or HR related experience required
