Sr Quality Technician

Location/Division Specific Information

Are you a detail oriented professional looking to make a major impact in an exciting organization? If the answer is yes, a role in Thermo Fishers Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) may be the perfect fit for you! The business serves a wide breath of industrial sectors including pharmaceutical, food and beverage, environmental, process minerals, mining, coal, cement and metals, as well as academic, government, safety, and security. This position will be based out of our Oakwood Village Plant in Ohio.

How you will make an impact:

The Sr. Quality Technician will work closely in a collaborative environment with all departments on a regular basis. They will primarily be responsible for the timely inspection of electrical and mechanical products and the subsequent recording of results. They will make independent inspection decisions from moderately complex drawings and documentation, inspection specifications, and verbal or written instructions.

What you will do:

  • Set up and perform routine inspections using various gauges, machinery, and test equipment.
  • Establish product conformity using detailed inspection instructions.
  • Document and disseminate inspection results.
  • Participates on the Internal Quality Audit team.
  • Assist QA Engineer in investigating external and internal complaints. Perform engineering evaluation per test protocol and compile inspection reports.
  • Ensure all records and documentation are kept in accordance with procedures. Champion Good Documentation Practices.
  • Participate in plant continuous improvement efforts, especially those related to Quality Control and Quality assurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

How you will get here:


Minimum High School Diploma or GED required with 3-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical inspection preferred.


  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawing and specifications.
  • Must have worked efficiently in a team environment.
  • Experience using word processing, spread sheet, and / or document control software a plus.
  • Preferred experience with other regulatory type requirements (RoHS, FDA, IVD directive, IEC, ect..)
  • Experience inspecting electronic circuit boards and assemblies. IPC-A-610 certification a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of analytical instruments and measurement tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, XRF testers, optical comparators, and hand measurement tools.
  • Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Suite.
