The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the company’s risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.
The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions. The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargo’s risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.
The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers.
Data Management and Insights (DMI) is transforming the way that Wells Fargo uses and manages data. Our work enables Wells Fargo to empower and inform our employees, deliver exceptional experiences for our customers, and meet the elevated expectations of our regulators. The team is responsible for designing the future data environment, defining data governance and oversight programs, and partnering with technology to operate the data infrastructure for the company. This team also provides next generation analytic insights to drive business strategies and help meet our commitment to satisfy our customers’ financial needs.
Position Overview The individual selected for the Data Use Management Consultant role will be members of the Data Management Policy & Operations team in DMI, responsible to lead development of data use capture into the data use governance processes at a central level to improve cross-data domain processes and reporting, and for overseeing execution of existing cross-domain activities. The role will work with existing programs such as third party oversight, model governance, privacy processes to insert data use capture into the data governance Data Use council processes. The role will report to the Data Domain Operations Lead and partner closely with Data domain, Business Data Leader and Data Management Solutions teams in DMI to develop, socialize and implement new approaches to ensure consistent compliance to the Data Management Policy across the company’s 17 data domains. The role will also partner with Enterprise Data Governance, Enterprise Testing and Audit organizations outside DMI to respond to requests, provide updates on our progress and represent our current procedures and internal controls.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leverage data governance and data use expertise and data / business / process analysis to drive data use strategic initiative and improve cross-data domain processes and reporting strategy and implementation approach
Lead implementation of data use program initiative across DMPO and DMI to develop and improve cross-domain processes and reporting (e.g., projects tied to domain compliance planning platforms, domain council standardization and reporting, data governance role training enhancements, data management dashboard automation, etc.)
Oversee data use cross-domain processes including providing direction to internal and offshore resources
Maintain close partnerships with internal DMI teams and risk partners (e.g., Data Domain, Business Data Leader & Data Management Solutions teams and Enterprise Data Governance, Enterprise Testing, and Audit) and responding timely to audit or IRM requests
Maintain high quality and detailed internal procedures and job aids for key cross-domain processes
Manage / support communication routines and forums with key partners (e.g., Domain Managers, Domain Leads, DMI Business Data Leaders, DMI Relationship Managers, etc.)
7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: data management, data governance, data quality or data analysis demonstrated through work or military experience
5+ years of relationship management experience with business and technology partners
5+ years of financial industry experience
Knowledge and understanding of audit, regulatory compliance, or risk management
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
Experience working with changing priorities and deadlines
Experience meeting prescribed deadlines and target goals
Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change
Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
Other Desired Qualifications
Knowledge and understanding of data integrity management practices and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of financial industry compliance requirements
Experience working with cross-functional teams to support a variety of large-scale programs, services and initiatives that are significant in scope, complexity and risk, working collaboratively across multiple business groups.
Experience making and delivering executive presentations
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
