Job Description

The University Technology Office (UTO) is at the forefront of developing IT platforms and tools that add value to the student experience and the rest of the university as needed. Reporting into the Salesforce team and as part of the UTO Development team, this Salesforce Developer Position will contribute to the effective architecture, development, deployment of integrated apps and data that build a robust platform and support the Learning Enterprise ecosystem.

The University Technology Office (UTO) Development team at ASU is seeking a motivated Salesforce Developer to join our high-performing team. The UTO Development team is a diverse team of 90+ developers, product owners and analysts that provide robust, secure, leading edge software and systems to the University community of students, faculty and staff. In addition to assuring achievable goals are met, this individual will need to know how to look across a technology stack to create a comprehensive solution as well as interface to the appropriate functional stakeholders to instill confidence in the built solutions. Besides the work of this position directly, UTO offers a fast-paced, energetic, technically rich environment with many opportunities to contribute toward a number of innovative initiatives.

Essential Duties
• Develop solutions in Salesforce and related systems for business use cases.
• Integrate data from other systems both into and out of Salesforce using External Objects and APIs.
• Coach and mentor colleagues on best practices and development tools.
• Collaborate with colleagues on coding, source control management, technical reviews, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in all phases of the development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, CI/CD deployment, transition, and support.
• Utilize strong design and development patterns and frameworks to ensure solutions are sound and meet requirements.
• Define and implement new coding standards based on forward looking architecture.
• Follow good practices and project guidelines in all cases including the use of source code control, automated testing and deployment approaches, test-case-based development, and proper documentation practices.
• Contribute to the ASU University Technology Office development team by sharing knowledge, assisting others, and keeping up with the new trends and best practices as they evolve in the industry.
• Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field AND two (2) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Six (6) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months experience.

Desired Qualifications
• Experience designing technology solutions using the Salesforce platform to utilize platform strengths
• Experience with APEX and other object-oriented languages
• Experience using MuleSoft Enterprise Service Bus or SOAP and REST integration development
• Experience with JavaScript and front-end JavaScript frameworks like Lightning (Aura), Angular, or React
• Salesforce project development experience including integrated systems
• Experience with AWS integration technologies
• Experience with object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms
• Experience with database design concepts and use of SOQL, SOSL, and SQL
• Evidence in being self-motivating and able to work in a dynamic environment
• Experience in working and communicating well with colleagues and customers
• Experience in troubleshooting, tuning, and optimizing technical enterprise systems
• Experience working in a new Salesforce Org where business processes, coding frameworks, and solutions continue to be established and implemented
• Experience working with the Educational Data Architecture model for Salesforce
• Evidence in modeling empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
• Experience hiring in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
• Experience in helping foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive
• Experience in stimulating changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment

Working Environment
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
• Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
• Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
• Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
