Strategy, Digital, & Innovation (SDI)

Strategy, Digital & Innovation group is responsible for Corporate Strategy and its Digital and Innovation teams. The group positions Wells Fargo for the future by enhancing the company's focus on planning for the digital future and investing in the customer experience. The group leads corporate strategic planning; defines and manages digital platform standards and capabilities; and manages innovation priorities, opportunities, and companywide efforts to drive transformation. The team works closely with the company's Technology Group and business lines to deliver digital solutions and innovation to customers that are integrated, intuitive, and seamless across channels.

The Role

The Head of the Product Execution Office is responsible for supporting the Commercial Banking and Corporate and Investment Bank as they transform their businesses into agile and a customer journey orientation. This leader will report to the Head of Enterprise Agile and Customer Journeys Transformation and be responsible for executing the transition for these businesses from an Application & Project Based organization to an Agile model focused on the Product and Customer Journey. 

This leader will lead a team and work with partners in the Commercial Banking and Corporate and Investment Bank businesses on their transformation. The transformation will require building strong relationships with both business and technology leaders as well as others supporting the transformation journey. This leader will be responsible for leading the work required to transform, building a plan and getting the right commitments from the business. The leader will also support the measurement of the progress of the transformation through specific objectives and key results. 

This leader should have experience working in an agile organization and building and leveraging customer journeys to drive experiences and the ability to transform a vision into an implementable plan. This role will require a strong partnership focus and an ability to lead and influence change. This leader will need to be able to work effectively with and provide leadership on cross-functional teams.  The candidate must also understand the criticality of core processes, products and requirements. 

This leader should be a strategic thinker, have strong communication skills, a proven history of leading teams, being data and outcome driven and have a history of driving strategies to a successful implementation.  This leader should also have strong knowledge of commercial banking and investment banking products and customers.

Some of the key responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure the successful execution of the strategic priorities through the orchestration and stand-up of product execution office for Commercial and the Corporate and Investment Bank divisions.
  • Use experience and subject matter expertise to develop a transformation plan and framework for execution.
  • Work in partnership with the rest of the Enterprise Agile and Customer Journey team, SDI Shared Services and Enterprise Change Management (ECM) and Technology Transformation Office (TTO) to drive adoption of Agile methods and principles in these businesses.
  • Establish the program roadmap, milestones and delivery for these businesses in alignment with the business and the technology transformation team.
  • Be the point of escalation for resolving backlog impediments as the new model is established in these groups.
  • Contribute to the tracking of execution of our Agile strategy including extracting insights into the agile execution performance in business groups and enterprise functions.
  • Influence positive change through feedback from the business groups.
  • Influence and navigate across the business, driving the right outcomes based on business needs.
  • Lead working groups to meet transformation deliverable including processes and artifacts.
  • Ensure activities are consistent with the Enterprise Agile frameworks, policies and processes; track deliverables.


Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience leading a global organization through a transformation from a project-based organization to a Customer Journey and Product based organization based on Agile methodologies
  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: Commercial banking, Corporate banking, or Investment banking
  • 10+ years of leadership experience
  • 10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: digital customer experience, digital product/program management, digital platforms, or digital consulting



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in driving agile product transformation at scale in a regulated industry
  • Scaled agile certification
  • Proven and demonstrated leadership skills including relationship building, change leadership, partnering and collaboration skills with clear ability to influence, gain buy-in and negotiate with a diverse group of key partners/leaders
  • Prior experience driving agile transformation in a commercial banking or corporate & institutional banking environment
  • Strong understanding of commercial banking and corporate investment banking businesses, including experience working in those businesses
  • Working knowledge of DevOps or technology transformation
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders from a variety of disciplines and organizations, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships across the enterprise
  • The ability to generate followership by inspiring a vision around transformation
  • Demonstrable people management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven success achieving objectives requiring a high level of cooperation from other parts of the organization to collaborate, initiate action planning, manage change, as well as make high impact decisions that advance the progress of the organization
  • Excellent problem solving and analytic capabilities utilized to identify improvement opportunities, as well as creating approaches/programs to address those issues
  • Highly motivated with an organized work style and the ability to work calmly in a high energy environment
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of integrity with a mature approach to work
  • Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate
  • Proven ability to proactively manage and resolve conflict and effectively defend decisions with objective rationale
  • Educated to Bachelor degree level and/or equivalent experience/qualifications


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
