Job Description
Wisconsin Democracy Organizer
The Democracy Organizer in Wisconsin will work to educate and empower young people in Wisconsin to take action on climate change through civic engagement. The scope of responsibilities range from delivering education programs at schools, implementing climate-focused voter registration and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) strategies, and working in collaboration with local partners.

The Democracy Organizer will have two main roles: delivering Alliance for Climate Education’s (ACE) in-person climate education program, Our Climate Our Future Live, in local high schools and conducting field-based voter registration and GOTV activities. In addition to doing voter registration/GOTV canvassing on their own, Democracy Organizers will occasionally support some of ACE’s Action Fellows (high school students) to engage in voter registration/GOTV tactics in their communities. Through these primary responsibilities, the Democracy Organizer will work to strengthen ACE’s role and impact in the Wisconsin climate movement space by turning out first-time youth climate voters and increasing youth participation in our democracy.

This is an exciting moment to join the ACE team as we work to scale our Action Fellowship and in-person education programs and build youth power to move forward just, equitable climate policy and elect strong climate leadership in the 2020 elections.

This is a full-time, temporary position through December 1, 2020 with the possibility of becoming permanent. This is a remote position based in Wisconsin, with preference to Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties. The Democracy Organizer will work from home, meet weekly by video chat with Program Team members and have weekly national full staff meetings with colleagues online, and periodically meet in person with the 6-8 other Wisconsin teammates. The Democracy Organizer needs to be available for regular regional travel to deliver ACE’s in-person education program at high schools and occasional travel to participate in conferences, actions, events, and to attend staff retreats.

Schedule: Full-time position
Temporary: Through December 1, 2020
