Direct Care & Treatment includes an array of programs serving people with mental illness, developmental disabilities and chemical dependency. The Direct Care & Treatment healthcare network consists of inpatient, outpatient and residential services. These programs include Forensics, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services, Community Based Services, Minnesota Sex Offender Program and Ambulatory clinics. Each of these programs strive to address the complex needs and challenges of people served to optimize their potential and support their life goals.
The Senior Accountant is a key member of a team providing quality accounting expertise, operational support and direction to Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) Programs. The Senior Accountant supports the operations of Direct Care & Treatment through analysis, reporting, technical expertise and annual budgeting while utilizing our financial processes and systems. This includes providing financial consultation and collaboration, implementing work plan goals, executing action items and administering processes. Information provided by the Senior Accountant is used by Direct Care and Treatment leadership and other Direct Care Team personnel in long range planning and executive decision making. In this role, a successful employee demonstrates clear communication skills, solves complex problems and has the ability to work with all levels of management. The Senior Accountant is a team leader who also coordinates the general ledger operations and can guide various work of other accounts payable staff.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Maintaining the general ledger and preparing monthly financial statements which are compliant with financial policies and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Preparing, analyzing and interpreting financial reports and statistical data used for trend analysis, process improvements and long range program planning
Serving as a subject matter expert for related business software such as Oracle, Avatar and SWIFT to ensure data integrity and user needs are met
Administering general accounting activity, including complex accounting assignments, through research, analysis, reporting expertise and guiding accounting staff that help improve financial results and efficiencies
Collaborating with the Controller and other team members to develop and implement Direct Care & Treatment operating procedures and long-range planning
Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
2 years professional experience in financial operations, auditing and/or accounting which demonstrates the following:
o Application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to manage financial operations and accounting functions
o Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases to prepare and present complex financial records and reports
5 years of professional experience in month end closing and general ledger reporting
Interpreting and analyzing fiscal data, reports and records
Oracle ERP cloud operations and reporting
Excellent Microsoft Office skills to manipulate and analyze data
