The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with the knowledge, abilities and interpersonal skills required to serve as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for its wrestling program. This is a full-time position and includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is a NCAA Division I Power Five institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 24 varsity sports programs and operates under a “Win. Graduate. Do It Right.” philosophy.

The successful candidate will develop and administer strength and conditioning programs for men's and women's athletic teams, with primary responsibilities in the sport of wrestling. Periodically assess general fitness performance tests; review injury records and consult with team trainers as necessary; provide a safe environment in which the athletes can train; communicate with potential student-athletes during visits to the University of Iowa campus.
Qualifications & Requirements
Note to Applicant: This position requires frequent travel; work in the evenings, on weekends and holidays. Five professional references will be required at a later step in the recruitment process. Please only supply references if requested to do so. The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check and an academic credential verification.

Required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent).
• CSCCa Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
• Working experience as a strength and conditioning coach of collegiate student-athletes in the following areas: designing speed, strength, and conditioning programs in a progressive manner; executing the rehabilitative phase of injury recovery
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience in performance management, including effectively teaching and supervising small and large groups of student-athletes; and utilizing basic office support software (word processing, email, spreadsheets)
• Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a highly-regulated team environment

Desired qualifications:
• Higher education coursework in a related field is preferred.
• Coaching experience with and working knowledge of NCAA Division I strength and conditioning processes, issues, considerations and solutions for a high profile wrestling program; and functional movement screening tools and implementing appropriate corrective exercise.
