This announcement will be used to fill multiple permanent full time and intermittent (on-call) vacancies within the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP)* and the Forensic Services (FS) in St Peter. The shifts may be day, afternoon/evening, rotating (day/evening) or overnight.
This position will provide facility security and/or residential care at Forensics Services in St. Peter, MN for patients committed by the courts to the Commissioner of the Department of Human Services or the Minnesota Sex Offender Program's secured facility for clients who have been court-ordered to receive sex offender treatment.
Responsibilities include providing informal counseling, implementing treatment plans, observing and documenting client behavior; encouraging client participation in program activities; and providing security and verbal and/or physical crisis intervention.
* Forensic Services (FS) provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety.
* The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) is for individuals who have completed their prison sentences and are civilly committed by the courts and placed in sex offender treatment for an indeterminate period of time. The facilities are located in St Peter and Moose Lake.
•Possess a high school diploma or GED.
•Demonstrated writing skills including writing legible notes.
•Basic computer skills.
•Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and to maintain records and documentation.
•Associate’s or Bachelor's degree; OR
•One (1) year of volunteer/work experience which demonstrates skills in human relations capacity sufficient to assist in the resolution of disputes; provide ongoing support and direction to clients and facilitate living, social, and leisure activities.
•Ability to implement treatment strategies, and recognize and report sudden behavioral and physical changes to appropriate staff OR training in therapeutic intervention and behavior management;
