I have seen numerous threads from people asking about the popluarity of Greek Orgs on different campus. I'm curious to know why NON greeks want to be apart of a BGLO. Because it seems are if popularity plays a key part. Hey you could even tell me why "ur friend" wants to join..lol

I guess when I was in college I wanted to join because I have some family members that are a part of some of the Greek orgs. I had my mind set on one particular org because I have aunts and cousins that are a part of xyz. Come to find out, when I actually got to college I didn't like those girls on the particular campus. So it pays to just sit back and not make a decision until you see how the organization of females act on your campus. Now that I'm out of school that desire to join a Greek org is gone! I have other extracurricular activities that I'm a part of that wouldn't leave any extra time for a Greek org. For one thing, I belong to a church with a large membership that has so many activities that wouldn't leave time for Greek stuff. Also, I'm not willing to pay out $800-1000 dollars to join a Greek org. I can do community service and have fellowship with other women for free! LOL Anyway, to each its own. Anyway, getting back to your question the reason I wanted to join a Greek org was because of family members. If it wasn't for family members I probably wouldn't have ever had the desire to join one. |

As for me, the one thing I have noticed is the shakers and movers in my hometown (and where my family live in other cities) they tend to be part of a BGLO. My mentors and role models in high school were all members of their respective organizations, and while my mama didn't join in college, I wanted to walk down my own path. It's something I intend on doing one day, probably after I finish undergrad (life is WAYYYY too hectic right now!) but I like what they stand for!

I guess with me, I tend to change my mind about the Greek orgs daily. Some days I want to join and then some days it's like whatever! I guess if someone asked me I wouldn't turn it down but as far as me running after a Grad chapter, to freely give out a bunch of money, that's not going to happen! LOL Yet, I wouldn't turn down a offer if someone asked me to join. |

Me personally, I find it fulfilling to be apart of a greek organization. My brother and his wife are greek, and I have some other family members who are likewise, but there is a specific org that has this legacy that I feel that i want to be apart of. |

Life time commitment? Most people stop their commitment after graduation. The ones that work with the org are the ones that never joined undergrad. |

A great many of our State Directors as well as our Grand is a product of undergrad. And this is just to name a few in high positions. I can't speak for other Orgs, but I can and will speak for Zeta.
